Altered Images

ltered Images is an Original A3 collage made using vintage women's magazines, hand printed tissue papers and acrylic paint. 
Another example of how difficult it is for women to please everyone, or indeed anyone! This work contains images from just one magazine in which the message was different on just about every page.  Whatever your image, you'd better alter it; don't be fat, don't be skinny and above all be pleasing to men.  Today's women can at least filter out the negative messaging to some extent, and focus on the messages that deal with independence, intelligence, strength and the beauty of diversity.  The young women reading these messages in the 1960's must have been extremely frustrated by their lot and it's little wonder 'womens lib' became imperative
